Type President Donald Trump will bring the "full power" of the US government to combat human trafficking. WASHINGTON (AP) — The president met with senior advisers and representatives of organizations dealing with human trafficking at the White House. His daughter was among those present. Trump called "human trafficking" an issue that "isn't talked about enough." He said he would order the Justice and Homeland Security departments to pay close attention to the resources they are devoting to addressing the issue. Human trafficking tends to occur around international travel hubs with large immigrant populations such as California and Texas. The US Department of Justice estimates that 14,500-17,500 people, including children and adolescents, are trafficked into the country each year. They can be domestic citizens or foreign nationals. According to State Department statistics from 2000, there are approximately 244,000 American children and adolescents at risk for the sex trade each year.
